Giant balloon visualizes CO₂ for climate campaign

Danfoss had a vision to find a new way to make a ton of CO₂ more tangible, and we created the solution: a giant 10-meter balloon.

Giant Balloon for Climate Campaign

The balloon’s immense size illustrates the volume of a ton of CO₂.

What does a ton of CO₂ look like?
This impressive balloon is more than just a simple installation; it serves as a powerful visual representation of the space a ton of CO₂ occupies, highlighting the importance of reducing our climate footprint.

To give you a sense of its size: a ton of CO₂ corresponds to the emissions generated by transporting goods 2,000 km by truck or heating a small office for three months. This balloon is designed to make the invisible visible and help us all understand how our actions impact the climate.

The balloon’s many uses: From climate to stage
The balloon can be used not only for climate campaigns but also as part of stage shows and cultural events. For instance, during Nephew’s performance at Orange Scene in 2018, a similar large balloon was featured as part of the show.

We hope this visual representation will raise awareness and engage people in discussions about climate change. The project is more than just a balloon – it’s a concrete way to make climate impact both visible and understandable. It demonstrates how creative visual communication can transform complex environmental issues into something that is both easy to grasp and inspiring to act upon.

Danfoss’ climate initiatives
Danfoss is actively working to reduce its climate footprint and has already implemented several initiatives to protect the environment. By the end of 2023, five of Danfoss’ factories have become CO₂-neutral, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future. Additionally, Danfoss is investing in expanding its fleet of electric vehicles and continues to set ambitious goals for continuous improvement. These efforts highlight Danfoss’ commitment to creating a greener world and inspiring others to follow suit. Learn more about the project here.
